Pottery is my relaxation time. After leaving art school in Chicago I was lucky enough to find an amazing studio in New York to keep practicing at. It's been the one time of the week I can turn to for relaxation during the hectic years of college. When I go to the studio to throw I'm not thinking of anything else. Having a separate space to go to encourages me to keep creating because there are no distractions of friends or technology in the studio which is probably the main reason I have kept up with pottery and not painting. It is very therapeutic and I encourage everyone to give it a try at some point in their life.
In this post are some of the pieces I made in my last term at Greenwich House Pottery. I've been focusing on making smaller mugs and teacups, working on my handle making, these were all made using a pulling technique. I am trying to work my way to making espresso cups off the hump, but have yet to be successful at it. All pieces in this post with exception to the red cup are Celadon glazes which is my favorite glaze to use. They are such nice greens and when using a white slip underneath (first picture below) it creates very nice pastels.

One of the simplest questions "What's your favorite color?" I never have an answer until now. This color has been everywhere advertising campaigns, clothing, instagram. This pale pink, a little different from a baby pink, but not quite sure what to call it pink? I've been aware of it but now I'm in love. After visiting Sicily this summer all the colors were so inspiring and included this pink, tans and yellows, earth tone pinks, and that was the tipping point for myself and Millennial Pink.
"Remember when pink was déclassé? Pink used to be Malibu Barbie and Bubble Yum and all the bright plastic items that many of us in this particular group were steered away from as kids. And that specific shade of pink is not the one that’s resurfaced. Instead it’s ironic pink, pink without the sugary prettiness. It’s a non-color that doesn’t commit, whose semi-ugliness is proof of its sophistication." -Veronique Hyland, NY Mag
Included in this post are a few of my favorite new products. I finally decided to try out some Glossier and they definitely live up to the hype. My favorite is the Stretch Concealer and the Boy Brow. I've been looking for a brow gel that holds up throughout the day for a long time, and I've finally found it, most days I don't even feel the need to fill in my brows along with the gel. The stretch concealer has medium coverage and you don't even feel it on your skin, I use a beauty blender with it on my cheek bones and it gives a nice dewy look, I don't even need a highlighter.

They've been calling it “Millennial Pink”
A few photos from my London travels this past summer. I really admire the architecture and colors of the city, it is so beautiful. Being in a new city is always inspiring, but London is truly something different. As much as I have always wanted to travel growing up I don't think I would change the fact that this was my first time in Europe at age 21 because I think I got the fullest of my experience and could really appreciate the experience. I can't wait to go back as soon as I can.
